Frederick "Fred" Tiedt (born October 16, 1935 in Dublin ; † June 15, 1999 there ) was an Irish boxer .

biography

Frederick Tiedt joined the welterweight division at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . With victories over Poland's Tadeusz Walasek , Pearce Allen Lane from the United States and Kevin Hogarth from Australia, he made it into the final. There he was defeated by the Romanian Nicolae Linca on points. In 1959 he began his career as a professional boxer, which, unlike his amateur career, was less successful.
