Bucket (smoking device)
A bucket is a smoking utensil that is primarily used for the consumption of THC- containing drugs such as hashish or marijuana . In the classic form, the construction consists of a bucket filled with water and a bottomless bottle through which the smoking material is inhaled.
The smoking method , also known as bucket smoking , buckets or bucket kicking , is mostly used when consuming drugs to accelerate and maximize the effect of the intoxicant by means of high concentration. The drug cocaine is also occasionally consumed in the smokable forms crack and freebase using this technique.
Working principle
In contrast to the bong , the water is used to suck air through the glowing head due to the negative pressure created when the bottle is lifted.
In an alternative construction, the so-called waterfall bong , the required negative pressure is generated by opening a hole in a bottle filled with water through which the water is drained.
With both types of construction, the smoke produced is then inhaled after removing the head.
Smoking process
The smoking process takes place schematically in both designs in such a way that the head is first removed from the bottle and the smoke is then inhaled .
However, there are different techniques. In this way, the smoke can be inhaled both slowly and very quickly due to the pressure generated when the bottle is re-immersed. The latter, however, is not possible with a Waterfall Bong, since the water cannot be supplied again as quickly there. There is also the “kicking” or “bubbling” method. A slight negative pressure is created with the mouth before the bottle is pulled out of the water, which causes the smoke to enter the lungs all at once.
Health risks
Due to the high volume of smoke inhaled when smoking a bucket, the lungs are more damaged than most other forms of smoke. Inhaling under increased pressure can easily lead to an irritation of the throat or even damage to the lungs , which can be even more serious if nicotine-containing tobacco products are used. In contrast to other methods of consuming cannabis , for example with a joint , the smoke is inhaled more concentrated and faster, so that a regulated dosage for inexperienced users is not necessary. It is so easy for them to inhale a stronger dose than they are used to, which can lead to a strong intoxication . As a rule, the bucket is only used by people who have a high cannabis tolerance or who want to induce a very strong state of intoxication by quickly taking a high dose.
