En Bokek (also Ein Boqeq , Hebrew עין בוקק) is a place in Israel .

En Bokek is approx. 390 m below sea ​​level . It emerged as a tourist center: there are many hotels , restaurants , health clinics , bars and shopping centers . The place is about 90 minutes by car from Jerusalem and is one of the most developed holiday resorts on the shores of the Dead Sea . The German writer Stefan Heym died here .

  • The DMZ (German Medical Center), which is located in the Hotel Lot, was founded for rehabilitation and spa measures. The DMZ mainly specializes in skin diseases. It is noteworthy that even exposure to the sun in the warmer months, combined with occasional bathing in the Dead Sea, has a proven healing effect on certain skin diseases (e.g. psoriasis ( psoriasis ) or neurodermatitis).
  • The Evangelical German Language Congregation in Jerusalem regularly celebrates church services here.
