The Lauda railway bridge is a railway bridge of the Frankenbahn near Lauda-Königshofen in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

History and description

The 81-meter-long half-timbered bridge was opened in 1866 with the opening of the Baden Odenwald Railway between Osterburken and Würzburg . It follows after the Lauda train station in the direction of Gerlachsheim and leads over the Tauber and the Taubertal cycle path to the right of the Tauber. An additional crossing connects the sections of the cycle path to the left and right of the Tauber.

The western part of the bridge is on the Lauda area and the eastern part of the bridge is on the Gerlachsheim area of the city of Lauda-Königshofen. In the course of the bridge construction, one arm of the Tauber was shut down and the river in the area of the bridge straightened. At the end of the 20th century, the Tauber Altarm was designated as a two-dimensional natural monument, the Altarm der Tauber at Chausseehaus Renig ( ; since March 10, 1992) (see also: List of natural monuments in Lauda-Königshofen ).
