Vain Friedrich von Zollern

Vain Friedrich the Younger von Zollern (* 1454 ; † June 27, 1490 , Montfoort ) was a Dutch admiral .

He was the third son of Jobst Nikolaus von Hohenzollern (1433–1488) and his wife Agnes von Werdenberg-Heiligenberg (1434–1467).

Life

Eitel Friedrich went to Holland as a follower of Maximilian I to fight a Flemish revolt . In 1488 he succeeded Philipp von Kleve-Ravenstein , who had switched to the side of the rebels. He died during the siege of Montfoort.

He is not the only Zollern to die in this war, his younger brothers died before then: Friedrich Albrecht on July 16, 1483 as an imperial colonel in the siege of Utrecht and Friedrich Johann on November 18, 1483 as an imperial colonel in the battle of Dendermonde .
