Ekkehard band

Ekkehard Band (* 11. February 1945 in Thalberg , † 8. March 2016 ) was a German SPD - politician . From December 19, 2001 to November 20, 2011 he was district mayor of the Berlin district of Tempelhof-Schöneberg .

Life

Band was married and had two children. He began his professional career with an apprenticeship as a trainee city inspector at the Zehlendorf district office of Berlin (1965 to 1968). After studying at the Berlin Administrative Academy , Band worked as a government director for the President of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Political activity

As early as January 1967, Band joined the SPD, where, among other things, from March 1990 to March 2000 he was district chairman of the SPD Tempelhof and district delegate and state party congress delegate of his party. In addition, he was an active member of the Economic Committee of the Berlin SPD.

Mandates and public offices

From March 1985 to 1995 he was a member of the SPD parliamentary group in the district assembly in the Tempelhof district , of which he was chairman from 1991 to 1995.

On December 14, 1995, he was elected District Councilor for Public Education and Economy in Tempelhof.

As part of the district merger, which came into effect on January 1, 2001, the district council elected Band on October 4, 2000 as city councilor for schools, education and culture for the newly formed Tempelhof-Schöneberg district.

After the early elections to the House of Representatives and the district council meetings on October 21, 2001, Band was elected District Mayor of Tempelhof-Schöneberg and City Councilor for Personnel, Finance, Economics and Citizen Services on December 19, 2001.

In November 2006 he was re-elected as district mayor, but has now taken over the management of the finance, human resources and business advice / promotion department.
