Ekkehard Eichberg

Ekkehard Eichberg (born March 23, 1916 in Breslau ; † April 9, 1999 in Hamburg ) was a professor of comparative education and Eastern Pedagogy.

Life

Eichberg first became an officer in Schweidnitz / Silesia and then took part in the Second World War. Most recently he was a major in the General Staff. In Courland he was captured by the Soviets, which lasted until 1949. In Siberia he learned the Russian language and developed an affection for Russian culture, which he later deepened by studying Slavic .

Studies

From 1950 Eichberg studied educational science at the University of Hamburg and then worked as a primary school teacher from 1953 to 1962. Then he returned to the seminar for educational science as an assistant to Georg Geissler and in 1964 he presented the dissertation "The training workshop in the industrial enterprise". The bridging between technical education and Russian pedagogy resulted in studies on Soviet polytechnical instruction . In 1971 Eichberg was appointed professor of comparative educational science in Hamburg and worked in particular in the field of Eastern pedagogy, as otherwise mainly represented by Oskar Anweiler . In 1978 Eichberg retired.

Ekkehard Eichberg was the father of the cultural sociologist Henning Eichberg .
