Oskar Anweiler

Oskar Anweiler (born September 29, 1925 in Rawitsch ) is a German educationalist .

Career

Anweiler studied history, German literature, philosophy and education at the University of Hamburg from 1947 to 1952 . He passed the state examination and received his doctorate in 1954. He then worked in school until 1959. From 1963 he was a private lecturer at the University of Hamburg, from 1963 professor at the Lüneburg University of Education . In 1964 he followed a call as professor for comparative education at the new Ruhr University Bochum . In 1990 he retired .

The focus of his academic work was on comparing German, Russian (Soviet) and Polish educational history. His first book was on the council movement in Russia (1905–1921).

Since 1997 he has been a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences .
