Ekkehard fields

Ekkehard Felder (* 1964 ) is a German German studies scholar and professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Life

From the winter semester 1985/86, Felder studied German, political science and economics at the universities of Munich , Madrid and Freiburg . In 1992 he passed the first state examination for high school teaching in German and political science in Freiburg. In 1994 he received his doctorate in German Philology in Freiburg. phil. PhD. He then worked as a trainee teacher, after his second state examination in 1996 as a teacher, until 1997 at high schools in Baden-Württemberg. In 1997 he moved to Münster University as a research assistant , where he completed his habilitation in 2002 and was awarded the Venia legendi for the subject of German philology (linguistics).

Afterwards, Felder worked for a year as a senior assistant at the University of Münster before he was a professor at the University of Cologne from 2003 to 2005 . Since the winter semester 2005/06 he has been a professor at the chair for German linguistics with special emphasis on contemporary language at Heidelberg University . In 2010 he founded the European Center for Linguistics in Mannheim together with Ludwig Eichinger and Jörg Riecke . He also founded the language and knowledge research network . From 2011 to 2015, Felder was Dean of the New Philology Faculty at Heidelberg University. In 2018 he was visiting professor at the Beijing Foreign Language University .

Felder's main research areas are variety and sociolinguistics, linguistic media discourse analysis, semantics and political language analysis.
