El Capitan Reservoir is a reservoir in San Diego County in Southern California . The reservoir was completed in 1934 to provide the city of San Diego with drinking water. During drought, water from the San Vicente Reservoir is transferred to the dam.
Recreational use
Private boats and water skiing are allowed in a restricted area from May to October. In the narrow arm this is only allowed on Sundays. Fishing is allowed all year round.
