El Espinillo is the capital of the Pilagás Department in the Formosa Province in northern Argentina . It is on Ruta Nacional 86 at kilometer 1,382. The distance to the provincial capital Formosa is 196 kilometers. In the classification of the municipalities of the province it belongs to the municipalities ( Municipio ) of the 2nd category.
Protected areas
The Pay Curuzú ecological reserve is a protected area of around 50 hectares in the Formosa province. The Riacho Porteño flows through the area. The reserve is open for camping and hiking on signposted paths.
