El Hamma du Jérid ( Arabic الحامة, DMG al-Ḥāmma , tooحامة الجريد / Ḥāmmat al-Ǧarīd ) is a small group of oasis settlements in the Tunisian Tozeur governorate north of the city of Tozeur in the Bled el Djerid region . The place name comes from Hamma for "bath" and refers to the natural artesian spring outlets.

In 1974 about 2800 people lived in the oasis. The ancestral population belongs to the nomadic group of Hammama.

The oasis group of three smaller settlements lies on a ridge of the mountain range Djebel Chareb, which ends here to the west, between the two salt lake areas of the Chott el Djerid and Chott el Gharsa . There are 20 springs here, including some thermal springs (37 to 40 ° C).

About 600 hectares of palm trees are used economically by the residents . Irrigation is limited in order to conserve water resources. Water is obtained from different horizons and is temporarily stored in cisterns, which is both salty and low in salt (fresh water). In addition to the natural springs, there are also draw wells and boreholes with pumps.

The oasis group can be reached via the regional roads RN3 and RN16 .
