El Jebha (Spanish: Puerto Capaz, Central Atlas Tamazight ⵍⵊⴱⵀⴰ Ljebha ) is a small port town in the northern part of Morocco . This Mediterranean coastal town is located on the Rif Mountains and is crossed by the transport route between the north-western and north-eastern parts of Morocco. El Jebha is the capital of the district (cercle) Mtiwa and thus part of the Chefchaouen province in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region .
Surname
The name of the city results from its location at the foot of a mountain range. El Jebha means “forehead” in Arabic; the mountains surrounding El Jebha stand out as if the city were the forehead of the Chain Mountains.
economy
There are two main sources of income, namely fishing and trade. As one of the most important coastal cities in the vicinity, El Jebha has its own port where many large and small fishing boats are anchored. The port also welcomes many Europeans who cross the area on a tour of the Mediterranean Sea. Next up after fishing comes booming culture of commerce and industry. The government function and the port are two main reasons most people consider visiting. It is also an occasion for the local residents to become involved in trade and commerce. The location of El Jebha crosses the coastal routes which, in addition to its popularity, lead from the center of the Wtiwa area.
The most important day of the week is without a doubt Tuesday known as "Tlatha". On this day, people from all over the area travel to El Jebha to do their weekly shopping. All the shops are overcrowded, the market is bringing out new products, the hairdressers have long lines, and the streets are filled with trucks and vans.
beaches
Due to the fact that the roads leading to El Jebha are difficult to travel, the coastline has remained relatively untouched by humans over time. The Jebha area is known for its clean and natural beaches, each of which seems to have a different appearance. The bays behind the eastern mountains are ideal for enjoying the sun and the beach in absolute seclusion. On the other side of El Jebha, on the western side, the beaches are more accessible and are characterized by a somewhat rough surface and gray sand. The beaches in the west are accordingly fuller than the bays in the east.
Mosques
Besides the port and the beaches there is another specialty of El Jebha: the mosque. Over the past decade, El Jebha has seen population growth with a similar increase in the size of the city. The result was overcrowded mosques, which could no longer accommodate the increasing number of people. For this reason, the great new mosque was built in the tradition of Moroccan coastal towns. This means that the color white is dominant for both the exterior and the interior design of the building structure.
