El Koala

El Koala (* 15. October 1970 in Malaga , Andalusia as Jesús Manuel Rodríguez ) is a Spanish musician . He describes his style of music as "Rock Rústico" (= peasant rock, rural rock), a mixture of rock and pop with lyrics from typical country life.

Career

In 1986 El Koala started a career by founding a punk-rock band called Santos Putos . In March 2006 he finally released his first album as El Koala, Rock Rústico de Lomo Ancho .

The first single Opá, yo viazé un corrá is one of the most watched videos on Youtube , with over 2 million clicks in the first month after publication; currently over 21 million (as of January 2011). The Spanish television broadcaster La Sexta promoted the 2006 World Cup with a revised text version of Opá, yo viazé un corrá (Opá, vamo a por el Mundiá) .

A year later, in June 2007, he released his second album called Vuelve la burra al trigo .

Opá, yo viazé un corrá is the only song by El Koala to be used as the basis for the video game SingStar (first published in Europe April 20, 2011).
