El Rodeo or Rodeo is a place in the department of Ambato in the province of Catamarca in northwestern Argentina . It is a holiday resort at 1,275 meters above sea level at the foot of the Sierras de Ambato . The distance to the provincial capital San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca is 35 kilometers. In the classification of the municipalities of Catamarcas, El Rodeo belongs to the municipalities ( municipio ) of the 3rd category.

The fresh and pleasant microclimate in summer especially attracts the provincial capitals who have a summer house here or who rent the hotels or use the numerous campsites. From El Rodeo you can go on trekking or horse riding tours in the surrounding mountains. Other tourist activities include swimming in the mountain streams, fishing and attending the folklore festivals in January and February.
