The Eland Mountains are a mountain range of up to 2440  m (according to British data around 1800  m ) on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . They extend over a length of 32 km in a northeast-southwest orientation along the southern flank of the Clifford Glacier .

Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill, discovered the mountains in 1936. Aerial photographs were taken in September 1940 as part of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). Participants in the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) in 1948 made additional aerial photographs , which also carried out a survey on site in cooperation with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey . Geoffrey Miles Clifford (1897–1986), Governor of the Falkland Islands from 1946 to 1954 , named the mountains in 1952 after his wife's maiden name.
