Electron is a civil parish in Pierce County , Washington state .
Electron is located on the Puyallup River just northeast of Lake Kapowsin and is the seat of the Electron hydropower plant , a hydropower plant operated by Puget Sound Energy . Above the power plant, about 16.5 km upstream, is the Electron Diversionary Dam , which feeds the water to the power plant through a wooden channel. The dam and power station were planned and built in 1903-04; operations began on April 12, 1904. Electron was the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in the 1930s. A mudslide destroyed the original engine house in 1936; the reconstruction was partially completed in 1937 and fully completed in 1941. There is a small city park in Electron.
