Electric power source

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The electrical energy source is an energy converter that provides electrical energy for a (closed) circuit .

execution

The electrical energy source refers to their task energy from another energy source namely

  • different energy
in an embodiment preferably as an electric generator , solar cell , accumulator , battery , fuel cell ,
  • similar energy
in an embodiment preferably as a transformer , power supply unit .

The polysemy “current source” is often used for the electrical energy source , although technically the energy source is usually designed as a voltage source . Then the energy source and the energy sink (the consumer ) are operated with voltage adjustment.

Demarcation

Natural electricity, such as occurs in a thunderstorm , would only become a source of electrical energy if it is made usable by a technical device. A static voltage generator, as represented by the electret , is unsuitable as an energy source.

Some devices and circuits deliver energy with only low power , for example an electrical signal from a sensor , receiving antenna , Wheatstone bridge . If these are operated with power adjustment (if as much power is to be extracted as possible) or even with amplifiers, they are not referred to as an energy source but as a signal source.
