Elemér Somfay

Elemér Somfay (born August 28, 1898 in Budapest , † May 15, 1979 ibid) was a Hungarian athlete and modern pentathlete .

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 he won silver in the pentathlon and gave up in the decathlon after four disciplines. In 1932 he was seventh in the modern pentathlon at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles .

He was Hungarian champion four times in the decathlon (1926, 1927, 1929, 1930), once in the pentathlon (1924), four times in the 200-meter hurdles (1922-1924, 1930), six times in the 400-meter hurdles (1923-1927 , 1929) and four times in the triple jump (1922, 1924, 1926, 1927). In the latter discipline he was also English champion in 1925.
