Elena Lauri

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elena Lauri (born March 13, 1907 in Copenhagen ; † June 21, 1961 ) was a Danish- German pop singer who occasionally appeared in supporting roles in the film.

Life

Born to Italian parents, she is often incorrectly referred to as an Italian singer. Lauri made her professional career as a pop singer in Germany in the 1930s . She sang film hits , chansons , operettas , tangos and a few English and French hits. Her greatest success was the Zarah Leander song The Wind told me a song from the film La Habanera (1937), in which Lauri also had a supporting role.

Lauri sang her songs on Electrola records or these were pressed onto His Master's Voice (HMV) for the foreign market . She preferred songs by the composers Peter Kreuder , Franz Doelle , Franz Grothe and Michael Jary . She was accompanied by internationally known dance and entertainment orchestras such as Bernard Etté and Juan Llossas .

At the beginning of the Second World War, Lauri returned to her Danish homeland. After her marriage, she used the name Ellen Lauritzen there and probably withdrew from show business. After Leimbach, inquiries in Denmark about her further life were unsuccessful.
