Eleonora Alexejewna Romanova ( Russian Элеонора Алексеевна Романова ; Ukrainian Елеонора Олексіївна Романова / Eleonora Oleksijiwna Romanova , *  17th August 1998 in Krasnodon ) is a rhythmic gymnast , who as a member of the Ukrainian national team each Third World Cups in 2014 and 2015 was in the team all-around. She has been a Russian citizen since 2016 .

Athletic career

Romanova was discovered by Albina Deriugina when she was eleven. Before moving to another country, Romanova lived in Kiev from 2009 and worked for the most famous Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Association, the Deriugina School (ДЮСШ [Детско-юношеская спортивная школа] "Школа Дерюгиныыкола Дерюгиных" " Palace" . She attended a Kiev elite sports school (Республиканское высшее училище физической культуры = РВУФК).

Romanowa has been taking part in international competitions since 2012, when she won silver in the team classification and in an individual classification (tires) at the World Cup in Kiev. Romanova has also been running outside of Ukraine since 2012. At the European Championships in Nizhny Novgorod , she took fourth place.

In 2013 Romanova won three gold (ball, club and hoop) and one silver (ribbon) as a junior at the 2013 World Cup in Estonia ("Miss Valentine"), and at the Grand Prix in Moscow she came second in the All Around category. Also in 2013 Romanova was superior in Artemiwsk , that is, with victory in the All Around category and all four individual disciplines, Ukrainian state champion (juniors) after she had already become vice state champion in 2012, and won bronze in the team at the AEON Cup in Tokyo -Competition as well as in the category junior women also in the individual evaluation.

Romanowa has been competing in the senior category since 2014 and won bronze in the team all- around competition at the World Championships in Izmir . Romanova was the only Ukrainian representative to take part in the 2014 Grand Prix final in Innsbruck, finishing sixth (all around and hoops, club, ribbon) and fifth (ball).

In 2015, Romanova won bronze with the Ukrainian team at the European Championships and again at the World Championships .

In February 2016 the Ukrainian press reported that Romanova would change citizenship and start for Russia in the future. According to a statement by the Ukrainian sports minister Ihor Zhdanov, Romanova's parents had unexpectedly appeared in Kiev to take them to Russia. The Ukrainian federation said in a press release that Romanova was with her parents in Krasnodon on New Year's Eve and then did not return to the national team. In September Romanova obtained Russian citizenship together with her mother. In Russia she is trained by Yevgenia Kanajewa . According to the provisions of the FIG , she may represent Russia internationally one year after acquiring her new citizenship, even without the consent of the Ukrainian Association.

Eleonora Romanowa is the daughter of Alexej and Uljana Romanowa and has a sister, Maja, who is three years younger and who also does rhythmic gymnastics.
