Elias (noble and patrician family)
Elias is the name of a Dutch patrician family that has the Jonkheer title .
The origins of the family go back to the 15th century in the area around 's-Hertogenbosch , where it appeared under the name de Cort . In the 16th century, a branch of the family moved to Amsterdam , where their descendants were able to establish themselves as influential members of the local city government. Related sexes included the Witsen , Pancras and the Van de Poll .
