Elias Arizcuren

Elias Arizcuren (* 1943 ) is a Spanish cellist and conductor born in the Basque Country .

Arizcuren received his first cello lessons from his father and then studied with Gaspar Cassadó , André Navarra and Sándor Végh . In 1969 he founded the Trio Mendelssohn in Amsterdam , with whom he toured Europe and the USA and made numerous recordings.

In 1981 he developed a video method for teaching the playing technique of the violoncello. In addition, he wrote about the history of the cello and published literature for the instrument.

Arizcuren works internationally as a conductor and jury member at music competitions; he gives master classes and taught at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Utrecht.

In 1989 he founded the Cello Octet Conjunto Ibérico , which mainly contemporary music lists and dedicatee of works by Xenakis ' Nobres , Halffter , Pärt , Boulez ', Donatoni , de Pablos , Bussottis , Denisov , Loevendies , Riley , Kagel and Glass ' is .
