biography
Elias Grießler was a well-known portrait painter of his time and had a permanent job at the Viennese court . Art historical research is still little known about the education and life of Elias Grießler . He was wrongly referred to in the older literature as a pupil of Hans von Aachen . After his portraits , Joachim von Sandrart engraved portraits e.g. B. of the Hungarian Bishop L. Szegedi. In the Vienna Army History Museum there is a high-quality portrait of the imperial general Raimondo Montecuccoli by Grießler's hand.
