Elias Loccelius

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elias Loccelius , also Elias Lockelius , actually Löckel , (* 1621 ; † 1704 ) was a Brandenburg chronicler.

Loccelius was pastor of the town of Bärwalde in Neumark between 1650 and 1673 . In 1674 he left the completely impoverished town of Bärwalde and took over the position of senior pastor in Drossen .

He was also the electoral church inspector of the state of Sternberg.

His chronicle of the Mark Brandenburg, which is only available in handwriting, is of high quality and is backed up with exact references. The value of his chronicle can also be assessed as high because some of the original documents he evaluated were lost through fires and wars. It is also the only evidence for Rolande in Bernau and Sandow .

His writing, completed in 1680, which bears the title Marchia illustrata or Chronological Account or Bedencken über die Matters, as reported in the Marck Brandenburg and in corporated countries from the beginning of the world to ad annum Christi 1680 , is in the inventory of the manuscripts - Department of the German State Library Berlin.
