Elie Yossef

Elie Yossef , also Eli Joseph , ( Hebrew אֵלִי יוֹסֵף; * 1956 in London ) is an Israeli Zionist activist.

He grew up in London, where he attended Hasmonean High School . In 1973 he founded the English Betar (Zionist youth organization). In 1975 he emigrated to Israel and served in the Golani and paratrooper brigades of the Israeli armed forces. After his military service he studied with Machon Meir and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . In 1988 he founded the children and youth alijah for French immigrants in Israel .

Together with Natan Sharanski and Yosef Mendelevitch, he campaigned for Jonathan Pollard, who was imprisoned as a spy in the USA .

He called for diplomatic relations with Russia to be broken off because of its support for Iran's nuclear weapons program. He actively opposed the Camp David Accords with Egypt and Israel's withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula . Yossef describes himself as a "humanitarian Zionist ".

Yossef now works as an independent real estate agent .
