Elina Urbano

Elina Urbano de Lourdes (* 21st February 1964 in Mendoza ) is a former Argentine lightweight - rower . She won two medals at world championships in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman .

Athletic career

The 1.64 m tall Elina Urbano took 13th place in the lightweight double scull together with Patricia Conte at the 1995 World Championships . In the same year, the two also won the Pan American Games . In 1996 Urbano took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta in the one with no weight limit, she finished 16th among 17 participants.

In 1998 she formed a lightweight pair with Patricia Conte without a helmsman. At the World Championships in Cologne , the two finished second behind the Britons Juliet Machan and Jo Nitsch . In 1999 Urbano and Conte won the Pan American Games in 1999 in Winnipeg in the lightweight double scull and together with Marisa Peguri and María Garisoain also in the lightweight double scull . Two weeks after the Winnipeg Games ended, the 1999 World Rowing Championships began in St. Catharines . As in the previous year, Urbano and Conte competed in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman and took fourth place. Two years later, the two won bronze in two at the 2001 World Championships in Lucerne.
