Eliot Stannard
Eliot Stannard (born March 1, 1888 in London , England ; † November 21, 1944 ibid) was a British screenwriter who was best known for his collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock .
Life
Eliot Stannard was the son of civil engineer Arthur Stannard and writer Henrietta Eliza Vaughan Palmer. Until 1911 he worked as his father's deputy managing director in a company. After the death of his father in 1912 he took over the management, but had to declare bankruptcy in November 1913. Between 1914 and 1933, Stannard wrote the screenplay for 88 feature films, eight of them directed by Alfred Hitchcock .

Stannard married Patricia Bingham Johns' widow in 1916, but separated again in the early 1930s. He died in November 1944 at St. Mary Abbot's Hospital in Kensington. The cause of death was registered as chronic rheumatic myocarditis .
