Elisa Soteldo

Elisa Soteldo (born July 25, 1922 in Barquisimeto , † January 22, 2016 in Miami ) was a Venezuelan singer, pianist and music teacher.

The daughter of the musician and music teacher Rafael Soteldo and the pianist Angela de Soteldo received musical training from her parents , as did her siblings Rafael Horacio , Antonio María , Salvador Manuel and Carmen . She also studied with Blanca Estrella Méscoli . In 1941 she became the first female member of a Venezuelan orchestra, the orchestra of Luis Alfonzo Larrain .

She plays jazz, has appeared in the movie Barlovento , in theater and radio in Venezuela, the USA, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic and sang in English, French, Italian and Portuguese. In 1967 she founded the Las Voces Blancas de Elisa Soteldo , a school for music, song and drama. Aldemaro Romero composed the song Mi melancolía for her .

Soteldo was married four times - first with the conductor Luis Alfonzo Larrain . From this marriage came the musician Federico Larrain and the dancer Keyla Alfonzo . The singer Elaiza Romero comes from her second marriage to the composer and conductor Aldemaro Romero . Her third marriage was to Chucho Sanoja ; from this marriage Chuchito Sanoja emerged. Eventually she married the trumpeter Mario Fernández , from this marriage came the actress and singer Liz Fernández .
