Elisa ( Elisa di Rivombrosa ) is an Italian telenovela that was broadcast by NDR in 2008 . Elisa was made into a film in Italy under the direction of Cinzia TH Torrini. After the great success of the first season (26 episodes) in 2003, a second season (another 26 episodes) was broadcast in 2005. In 2007, a 3rd season or an "offshoot" with the title La Figlia di Elisa - Ritorno a Rivombrosa (translated: The daughter of Elisa - return to Rivombrosa ) was broadcast in Italy.

action

Elisa von Rivombrosa is set in the Turin area (Piedmont) in the second half of the 18th century - during the Enlightenment . The center of the action is the Rivombrosa estate and the nobility of Turin.

The main character Elisa Scalzi ( Vittoria Puccini ) is a young woman from a poor family who becomes the companion of the old Contessa (Countess) Agnese Ristori, the mother of Conte (Count) Fabrizio ( Alessandro Preziosi ). Elisa and Fabrizio soon fall in love. But the class differences seem insurmountable. The servants watch love with envy, the members of the noble society reject Elisha. The action takes place against the backdrop of a plot by the nobility against the king. At the end of the first season, Elisa and Fabrizio get married. After Fabrizio's death, the second season is about how Elisa, who was ennobled by the king as a contessa, tries to free the Rivombrosa estate from high debts.

This costume series is inspired by the classic English novel Pamela by Samuel Richardson and relocated to Piedmont in the 18th century. The series was filmed in the castles of Piedmont and received awards for hundreds of handmade costumes.

Rivombrosa is the summer palace of Agliè . The name Rivombrosa comes from Riv'umbrusa (lato ombreggiato = shady side).

Production and direction

The series was produced by Together Productions / De Angelis and the German Victory Media Group. It started on Canale 5 with 6.5 million viewers and increased in two and a half months to more than double the number of viewers. This makes it seventh among the most successful Mediaset productions of the last six years.

The director Cinzia TH Torrini studied at the University of Film and Television in Munich. By Elisa has led the director of the first season and the first 12 episodes of the second season. Stefano Alleva then took over directing the rest of the second season and directing the entire third season.

Broadcasts and awards

The first season of the 18 million euro production (consisting of 26 episodes of 50 minutes each) had more than fourteen million viewers and a market share of 56.4 percent when it was first broadcast in Italy. The Italian-German co-production was awarded the " Il Telegatto " television prize in four categories. La Figlia di Elisa - Ritorno a Rivombrosa

The sequel takes place 20 years later. The protagonist is Agnese, Elisa's daughter, played by Sarah Felberbaum . Agnese falls in love with Lucrezia's son Andrea van Necker (Giulio Berruti), who is feared as a bandit. Also there again Martino Ristori (Paolo Seganti) and Emilia (Valentina Pace), who fall in love. The viewer also meets the Marchesa Lucrezia Van Necker Beauville (Jane Alexander) again. The sequel is loosely based on the work of Alexandre Dumas the Elder from 1856 Les Compagnons de Jéhu .
