Elisabeth Ackermann (Deaconess)

Elisabeth Ackermann (* 1905 ; † January 29, 1995 in Stuttgart ) was a German deaconess and superior of the Großheppach sisterhood for 26 years .

Life

Elisabeth Ackermann came from a Christian family. In 1926 she entered the seminary of the Basel Mission , trained as a teacher and learned English in Birmingham from 1930 . In 1932 she left for the Gold Coast . She worked as a teacher in the mission seminar in Agogo until 1939. During the war she was first secretary of the MBK and in 1944 joined the Großheppach Sisterhood. On September 1, 1946 she was appointed superior. She held this office for 26 years. Her deputy was Frida Auer. In cooperation with various heads and prelates, she led the sisterhood and was responsible for joining the Kaiserswerther Association (1950), as well as the celebrations for the centenary and the construction of a second motherhouse.

In 1981 she traveled again to Ghana for the anniversary celebrations . In 1995 she died at the age of 90 in the Stuttgart Deaconess Hospital
