history
The first hospital of the Stuttgart Diakonissenanstalt was the Paulinenhospital in the Forststraße, which was founded in 1854 on the initiative of the Stuttgart merchant Charlotte Reihlen and Prelate Sixt Carl von Kapff . On January 16, 1906, King Wilhelm II of Württemberg together with his wife Charlotte inaugurated the Wilhelmhospital, which was planned as a surgical clinic. The names of the building sections named after the couple “Wilhelmhospital” and “Charlottenbau” have been preserved to this day. The Paulinenhospital and Wilhelmhospital were merged to form the Deaconess Hospital in 1960. The Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart was created on January 1st, 2003 through the merger of the Orthopedic Clinic Paulinenhilfe (founded in 1845 ) and the Diakonissenkrankenhaus Stuttgart.
The Diakonie-Klinikum received a new building on Rosenbergstrasse, the first phase of which was inaugurated in 2004 and the second phase of which was completed in 2007; at the time it was one of the largest hospital construction projects in Baden-Württemberg. Since 2005 the Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart Diakonissenkrankenhaus und Paulinenhilfe gGmbH , as the correct company name is, has been at the common location in Rosenbergstrasse in Stuttgart.
