Elisabeth Albertine (also Albertina ) of Anhalt-Dessau (born May 1, 1665 in Cölln an der Spree ; †  October 5, 1706 in Dessau ) was Princess of Anhalt-Dessau from the house of the Askanians and as Elisabeth IV. Abbess of Herford Monastery and later by marrying the Duchess of Sachsen-Weißenfels -Barby.

Elisabeth Albertine was the fourth daughter of Prince Johann Georg II of Anhalt-Dessau from his marriage to Henriette Catharina von Oranien-Nassau , daughter of Prince Friedrich Heinrich of Orange , the governor of the United Netherlands.

Life

At the instigation of her father, Elisabeth Albertine was elected imperial abbess of Herford Abbey at the instigation of her father , which meant that he would have his daughter cared for and at the same time secure influence on Herford's share in the curate vote of the Rhenish prelate college. In order to be able to marry Duke Heinrich von Sachsen-Barby, she resigned as abbess as early as 1686, although she also influenced numerous Herford artists and merchants to move to Barby.

Death and burial

She died on October 5, 1706 at the age of 41 in Dessau and was buried in the new family crypt at Barby Castle .

Marriage and offspring

Her only marriage was on March 30, 1686 in Dessau with Heinrich, Duke of Saxony-Weissenfels-Barby , son of August, Duke of Saxony-Weissenfels from his marriage to Anna Maria von Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

She bore him the following children:
