Yelisaveta Alexandrovna Stroganova
Jelisaveta Alexandrowna Stroganowa ( Russian Елизавета Александровна Строганова , married Demidowa ; outdated Elisabeth Stroganoff, Demidoff; born February 5, 1779 , † March 27, 1818 in Paris ) was a Russian aristocrat . In her day, the millionaire heiress was probably the best game that existed in Russia. As a Stroganov, she was not only one of the richest families in Russia, but was also of particular beauty.
Life
In 1795, when she was sixteen years old, the steel baron Nikolai Nikititsch Demidow (outdated Nicolas Demidoff), himself one of the richest men in Russia, asked for her hand. She gave him two sons: Count Pawel Nikolajewitsch Demidow (1798-1840) and Anatole Demidoff (1813-1870), who later became Prince of San Donato (actually Anatoli Nikolajewitsch Demidow ).
Nikolai Demidov went into the diplomatic service and was transferred to Paris . Here both became enthusiastic supporters of Napoleon Bonaparte . As tensions between France and Russia grew, Nikolai Demidov was recalled in 1805. The couple first went to Italy and returned to Moscow in 1812.
The couple had quite different characters and often lived apart from each other. She was more cheerful and sociable, he was more reserved. She was starting to get bored with him. After the birth of Anatole, they separated. She went back to Paris, where she died in 1818.
Jelisaveta Stroganowa was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
