Elisabeth Feichtinger (born September 24, 1987 in Gmunden ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ) . She has been the mayor of Altmünster am Traunsee since 2015 . From November 9, 2017 to October 22, 2019, she was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

Elisabeth Feichtinger passed her Matura at HTL 1 in Linz in 2007. From 2007 to 2011 she studied Slavic Studies and Communication Science at the University of Salzburg , then at the Pedagogical University of the Diocese of Linz the teacher training course for elementary and special school education, as well as religious education. She completed her studies at the University of Education in 2015 with a double Bachelor of Education (BEd). In addition to her political functions, she was briefly a teacher for integration at the New Middle School in St. Georgen im Attergau . Feichtinger is an enthusiastic artist for carving with a chainsaw, lives in Neukirchen near Altmünster and is married.

Elisabeth Feichtinger began her political involvement in community politics. She has been a member of the town council of Altmünster am Traunsee since 2009, and in 2014 she was elected Vice Mayor. In the municipal council and mayoral elections in Upper Austria on September 27, 2015, she won the direct election as mayor of the municipality. In the early National Council elections on October 15, 2017 , Feichtinger stood as a candidate for the SPÖ's federal election proposal and moved into the National Council as a member of her party. She was a regular member of the committees for rural areas, education and the environment.

Due to the elections on September 29, 2019 and the poor performance of the SPÖ, she lost her previous mandate and resigned from the National Council.
