Elisabeth Hammerstad (born June 27, 1993 ) is a Norwegian handball player who belongs to the squad of the Norwegian beach handball national team.
Career
Indoor handball
Elisabeth Hammerstad learned to play handball at Haugsbygd IL. Hammerstad later ran for the Norwegian second division side Hønefoss SK, for whom they scored a total of 94 goals in the 2012/13 season. Then the backcourt player moved to league rivals Selbu IL. After Selbu had to relegate to the fifth division a year later, she joined the third division Utleira IL. In 2016 Hammerstad moved to Levanger HK, for whom she scored 62 goals in 22 games in the 2016/17 second division season. Hammerstad then moved to the Norwegian first division club Gjerpen IF, for whom she scored 42 hits in 36 first division appearances. For the 2019/20 season she returned to Levanger HK, who was temporarily relegated to the third division.
Beach handball
In 2013 Hammerstad won bronze medals with the Norwegian national beach handball team at the European beach handball championship and at the World Games . She then won two more bronze medals at the beach handball world championships in 2014 and 2016 and the silver medal at the beach handball European championship in 2015. In 2017 she won the gold medal at the European Beach Handball Championship. In the same year she took part in the World Games again. A year later Hammerstad was in the final of the Beach Handball World Cup, which Norway lost in a shootout against Greece. She was also elected to the tournament's all-star team. At the Beach Handball Euro 2019 she took sixth place.
Hammerstad won the Norwegian beach handball championship with Utleira IL in 2016.
