Elisabeth Kales-Wallner (* 28. April 1951 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs , Austria ; † 23. October 2005 in Vienna ) was an Austrian operetta soubrette and opera singer .

Life

Elisabeth Kales studied at the Graz Conservatory and became a member of the Graz Opera in 1975 . She made her debut at the Vienna Volksoper on February 1, 1978 as "Arsena" in the Zigeunerbaron . From 1979 until her death she remained a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper, from which she was appointed chamber singer in 1995. In 1996 she took over the artistic direction of the Stadttheater Baden bei Wien for four years .

On October 23, 2005 she succumbed to cancer after years of suffering. She was buried at Sieveringer Friedhof (Department 1, Group 13, Number 5) in Vienna.

Private

She was married to the manager Leo Wallner and had three grown children.
