Elisabeth Kerschbaum (born October 19, 1966 in Eggenburg ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ) and city councilor. She was a member of the Federal Council from April 24, 2003 to April 23, 2013 .

Kerschbaum attended elementary school in Eggenburg from 1972 to 1976 and moved to the high school in Horn from 1976 to 1979 . She then attended secondary school in Eggenburg between 1979 and 1980 and then graduated from 1980 to 1985 at the Higher Federal College for Business Professions in Hollabrunn , where she passed her Matura in 1985. Kerschbaum then worked as a commercial clerk from 1985 to 1993 and from 1997 to 2003. 2008 Master of Science Environmental Management Austria.

Kerschbaum began her political career after her first baby break in 1993 and became a councilor in Korneuburg in 1995 . In 2000 she took over the role of environmental councilor. Kerschbaum has been a city councilor since 2005. Within the party, she was a member of the provincial executive committee of the Greens in Lower Austria from 2001 to 2003. She has been a member of the regional committee since 2002 and a member of the regional board of the Lower Austrian Greens since 2003. She was sworn in as a Federal Councilor on April 24, 2003 and took over the role of Chairwoman of the Committee for Transport, Innovation and Technology in the Federal Council in November 2003–2008.

Kerschbaum is divorced and has two children.
