Elisabeth Koch (politician)

Elisabeth Koch (born September 25, 1962 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as Elisabeth Rieß ) is a German local politician ( CSU ). From May 1, 2020, she will be the mayor of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen community.

Career

Koch trained as a civil servant in the middle non-technical administrative service at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market and then made up for the Abitur. 1984 - 1990 she studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and graduated in 1990 with the first state examination in law. 1990 - 1993 she completed her traineeship a. a. at the Legal Office of the Bavarian State Parliament . After passing the 2nd state examination in 1993, she was admitted to the Munich Bar Association.

After a family break, Koch resumed her professional activity. In 2000 she founded the law firm Koch and in 2012 the law firm Koch & Langhorst.

Political activity

Elisabeth Koch has been a member of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal council for the CSU since 2008 and was chairwoman of the CSU municipal council. She has been a member of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district council since 2012 . In the local elections in Bavaria in 2020 , she ran for the mayor's office of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen community and won the runoff election against her predecessor Sigrid Meierhofer ( SPD ) on March 29, 2020 . Koch will take up this position on May 1, 2020.
