Sigrid Meierhofer

Sigrid Meierhofer (born November 18, 1955 in Rottweil ) is a German politician ( SPD ). On March 30, 2014 she was elected 1st mayor of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market . In the local elections on March 15, 2020, she was voted out of office as mayor. Her successor in office is Elisabeth Koch (CSU).

School and study

In 1974 Sigrid Meierhofer graduated from high school in Rottweil. From 1974 to 1977 she studied sports science, German language and literature and journalism at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and then until 1983 human medicine at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1979 she made her diploma in physical education. In 1983 she got her license to practice medicine. In the following year the doctorate to Dr. med. In 1988 she passed the specialist examination for anesthesiology.

Professional Activities

In 1984 she was an assistant doctor in an internal medicine practice in Augsburg, then until 1989 assistant and specialist doctor at the Munich-Bogenhausen Municipal Hospital. From 1989 to 1992 she had representative positions at clinics in Upper Bavaria. From 1994 onwards she worked as a lecturer at a vocational school for nursing and children's nursing.

Political offices

Sigrid Meierhofer has been a member of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen District Council and the Garmisch-Partenkirchen City Council since 2002. Until her election as mayor, she was also the chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group in the local council. She is also the district chairwoman of the SPD sub-district Garmisch-Partenkirchen and a member of the district executive committee of the SPD. As First Mayor of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market, she replaced Thomas Schmid ; she is the first woman in this role. In the runoff election on March 30, 2014, she received 67.5 percent of the vote.

Private life

Sigrid Meierhofer is married and has three children. Occasionally she works as an athletics referee.
