Elisabeth Paefgen

Elisabeth Katharina Paefgen (born September 22, 1954 in Lippstadt ) is a German literary scholar and literary didactician .

Career

From 1973 to 1979 she studied German and political science at the Free University of Berlin . In 1979 she passed the first state examination, in 1983 the second. Paefgen taught at Berlin schools from 1980 to 1985, after which she was a research assistant at the Technical University of Berlin until 1990 . In 1989 she received her doctorate with a thesis on the anthology of poems for secondary schools compiled by Ernst Theodor Echtermeyer . Her habilitation, presented in 1994, was published in book form in 1996 under the title "Writing and Reading". From 1994 to 1995 Paefgen was a professor at the University of Hanover , after which she received a professorship for modern German literature and its didactics. Paefgen has held the professorship for didactics of German language and literature at the Free University of Berlin since 2003. The main focus of Elisabeth K. Paefgen's work lies in the areas of canon discussion , literature of the 19th and 20th centuries and - above all - film and literature (in German lessons).
