Elisabeth Peveling

Elisabeth Peveling (born March 31, 1932 in Blankenstein ; † July 31, 1993 ) was a German botanist .

Life

Elisabeth Peveling studied botany, zoology, mathematics and physics in Münster, Innsbruck and Göttingen and was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. She was a research assistant in Münster. In the 1960s she did research in the USA and dealt with electron microscopy . In 1969 she completed her habilitation in Münster with examinations with the radiographic and surface scanning microscope and was appointed professor at the Botanical Institute of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

She was dean of Math.-Naturwiss. Faculty and designated chairperson of the Math.-Naturwiss. Faculty Day. From 1978 to 1982 she was the first woman and Vice Rector in the Rectorate of the University of Münster.

Elisabeth Peveling was Commendress of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
