Elisabeth Philippine Karoline von Dewitz (born October 7, 1820 in Stettin , † September 20, 1899 in Cramonsdorf ) was a German writer, she published about 20 popular books under the pseudonym Elise von Fernhain .

Life

Elisabeth Philippine Karoline von Dewitz (also Elisabeth von Rüchel-Kleist ) was a daughter of Jakob Friedrich von Rüchel-Kleist and granddaughter of the infantry general Ernst von Rüchel . She married the scholar Karl Wilhelm Ludwig Franz von Dewitz on March 23, 1840 in Gdansk (* July 17, 1806 in Halberstadt, † October 12, 1867 in Weitenhagen). They lived on the family estate in Weitenhagen , and this marriage resulted in ten children.

After a stroke, her creativity slackened and she was cared for by her youngest daughter Luise ( Lulu ), spent her last years in Carvin , then in Cramonsdorf, where she died on September 20, 1899.
