Elisabeth Schweigaard Selmer (born October 18, 1923 in Oslo ; † June 18, 2009 ) was a Norwegian conservative politician and lawyer .

The daughter of Niels Anker Stang Schweigaard and Betty Reimers studied law from 1942 to 1949. She was the first Norwegian Minister of Justice from 1965 to 1970. She supported the introduction of the national rescue service and achieved the repeal of § 16 of the Løsgjengerlov , a law from 1900 against vagrants and beggars, by which drunkenness in the public was criminalized up to that time. From 1970 to 1990 she was a Supreme Court judge .

She was a member of the Norwegian Academy of Language and Literature and was a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1982 to 1990 . She was in command of the Order of Saint Olav .

Selmer was married to the lawyer and legal IT specialist Knut Sejerstad Selmer (1924–2009).
