Elisabeth Tomalin

Elisabeth Tomalin (born November 4, 1912 in Dresden ; † March 8, 2012 in London ) was a German artist , textile designer and design therapist .

Life

Tomalin studied from 1932 to 1936 at the Reimann School in Berlin with Maria May , Erna Hitzberger , Georg Fischer, Kurt Rosenberg and Else Taterka, the subjects of textile design, shop window design and poster design. From 1934 to 1936 she was a freelancer in the textile workshops of the Reimann School. Because of her Jewish descent, she had to emigrate to England in 1936. In 1937 Tomalin became a teacher at the Reimann School and Studios in London and worked as a textile designer. Among other things, she designed printing fabrics for Marks & Spencer in the 1950s . Since 1972 she has also held regular seminars on the subject of creative therapy in Germany. Tomalin was a graduate group leader for topic-centered interaction , art and design therapist, orientation analyst and had completed basic training in analytical psychology . She brought Art Therapy from England to Germany and published numerous books on this subject, including the work: "Art Therapy - Design & Learning - Ways of Art & Design Therapy". She lived in London.
