Elise Czabon

Elise Czabon , née Elisabeth Beysteiner , also Elise Pohl-Beisteiner ( January 18, 1801 in Kishöflány , Kingdom of Hungary - January 26, 1866 in Vienna ) was an Austrian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Elisabeth Beysteiner, allegedly a shepherd girl, was trained by the singing teacher Paolo Bevilacqua and Antonio Salieri and made her debut at the Kärntnertortheater in 1824 . During her stage work, this artist was not on a permanent basis for much longer than a year. She appeared almost exclusively on guest tours in front of the audience and especially in Italy she acquired the skill and dexterity of the local school.

She sang in Padua, Rome, Florence and Naples to rousing applause and even became a member of the Philharmonic Society in Florence. When she returned from Italy, she didn’t take a permanent engagement and made guest appearances in the north and south of Germany, where she caused a stir and was counted among the best singers for a long time.

At first she was married to the tenor Pohl. And when she married the music director Czabon in 1838 in her second marriage, she wandered around with him all the more concert and guest. She died in Vienna on January 26, 1866.
