Elizabeth Taylor (athlete)

Elizabeth Taylor ( Elizabeth Garner "Betty" Taylor; ) (born February 22, 1916 in Ingersoll ; † February 2, 1977 ) was a Canadian hurdler .

In 1932, she retired from the Olympic Games in Los Angeles over the 80-meter hurdles in the preliminary run. In the same discipline, she won silver at the British Empire Games in London in 1934 in 11.9 seconds behind the South African Marjorie Clark and at the Women's World Games in London with her personal best of 11.7 seconds behind the German Ruth Engelhard .

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, she won bronze in 11.7 seconds behind the Italian Trebisonda Valla (gold) and the German Anni Steuer (silver).

In 1933, 1934 and 1936 she became Canadian champion.
