Elke Sader

Elke Sader (born September 27, 1955 in Bregenz ; born Elke Mayer ) is a social democratic state politician in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . From November 2003 to November 23, 2007 she was state party leader of the SPÖ Vorarlberg . In addition, she was club chairman of the SPÖ state parliament club until September 17 of the same year.

education and profession

Elke Sader was born on September 27, 1955 under the name Elke Mayer in Bregenz. Her father is the long-time Mayor of Bregenz, Fritz Mayer , and her mother, Friedolina Mayer. She attended elementary school and grammar school in Bregenz and graduated in 1974. In the same year she began studying medicine at the University of Innsbruck . In 1982 she completed these studies with the promotion to Doctor of Medicine ( Dr.med. ).

After completing her medical studies, Elke Sader completed training as a regular doctor and general practitioner from 1983 to 1988 . From 1988 to 1992, she trained as a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics at the Bregenz Regional Hospital . Subsequently, she worked as a gynecological specialist at the LKH Bregenz from 1992 to 1995. In 1995 she finally opened her own specialist practice for gynecology and obstetrics in Bregenz.

Political career

Elke Sader was strongly influenced in her political career by her father, the long-term social democratic mayor of Bregenz and SPÖ state party leader Fritz Mayer . In 1997 Elke Sader got actively involved in politics and was already a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament on October 5, 1999 , where she became chairwoman of the SPÖ state parliament club. Furthermore, in November 2003 she took over the party chairmanship of the Vorarlberg SPÖ state party group. The resignation from this office as well as the resignation from the chairmanship of the state parliament club in 2007 in favor of Michael Ritsch . Then she was the deputy club chairman in the state parliament. After the state elections in Vorarlberg in 2009 , in which the SPÖ lost three of their original six mandates, Elke Sader left the Vorarlberg state parliament and active politics.

Private life

Elke Sader is a practicing gynecologist with her own practice in Bregenz and currently lives in Lochau . She has been married since 1982 and has one daughter.
