Location of Ellers in Wuppertal

Ellers or Ellershäuschen was a court in the former town of Ronsdorf , now part of the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal . Today the place is a desert .

Location and description

The location was in the north of the city of Ronsdorf at 304 meters above sea ​​level in the source area of ​​the Schmalenhofer Bach at the foot of a ridge called Scharpenacken west of the Schmalenhof on the city limits of Barmen . The area of the yard was last part of the former site training area Scharpenacken.

Etymology and history

Ellerhaus is a local name for an elderly part . The Ellershäuschen is thus a small moving house .

In 1929 Ronsdorf was merged with other cities and municipalities to form Wuppertal. In 1936 the area around Ellers was rededicated as a training area for the newly built Wuppertal barracks as part of the National Socialist armament and the old courtyards, including Ellers, were cleared. Until the 1970s, the buildings were used for military exercises and then demolished.
