Coordinates: 33 ° 39 ′ S , 134 ° 53 ′ E The District Council of Elliston is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 6,500 km² and has about 1000 inhabitants (2016).
Elliston is located on the Eyre Peninsula on the Great Australian Bight about 370 kilometers as the crow flies northwest of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes 16 hamlets and hamlets: Bramfield, Colton, Elliston, Kopi, Lock, McLachlan, Mount Damper, Mount Wedge, Murdinga, Polda, Port Kenny, Sheringa, Talia, Tooligie, Venus Bay and Warrachie. The administrative headquarters of the council is in the coastal town of Elliston, which is home to around 300 residents (2016).

The Elliston Council has eight members, the seven councilors, and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by residents of the LGA. Elliston is not divided into districts.
